MADRID AIRFREIGHT DIVISION SEES 2013 VOLUME BOOST

KALEIDO, Ideas & Logistics has become one of the leading integral logistic specialists with the opening of its airfreight division back in January 2013, in close proximity to the cargo hub of Barajas international airport.

This significant expansion is a major, logical development, initially responding to the automotive and industrial project customers’ need for an efficient service. This boost is primarily due to a number of large transactions of average 4000 kgs., which accounted for 70% of the turnover during this period. The specialized approach of the airfreight staff working in coordination with a solid network of logistic teams around the globe proved right: originally aiming at doubling the volume, in no more than a year, it has recorded a growth of +280%, marking it an all-time high.

Chus Llorente, airfreight manager at KALEIDO in Madrid, comments: “One of the things that appealed to me about the project was to be able to show some practical difference to our clients’ development. I specifically recall the logistics for the Abeinsa desalination plants in Oman and Angola, to be something that gave us great satisfaction”.

Almost all cargoes are monitored from the moment they are booked until they are delivered to the most remote parts of the planet. In 2013, the most demanded lines have been South America, Africa, Middle East and Southeastern Asia. With on-site warehousing, customs clearance and added value services, KALEIDO premises in Madrid offer excellent accessibility, fast connections and direct access to a dense, toll-free road network.

Barajas International Airport, is Spain’s largest airport and international hub moving upwards of 600 000 tons annually. It hosts domestic, regional and international cargo services from over 60 airlines and is the major hub for many airlines serving to and from the major destinations in the world.
